To mark European Heritage Days, on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026, the Haute-Vienne Museum of Contemporary Art – Rochechouart Castle is offering a programme of tours and activities to help you discover the castle, its history and its collections in a new light.
From 1836 onwards, the Haute-Vienne Department gradually redefined the castle’s uses in order to preserve this remarkable architectural heritage. In 1985, the building became home to the museum and underwent a further transformation.
This guided tour invites you to explore the castle’s rooms, which bear witness to these various changes and to the way in which its architecture has been reinvented over time.
Tours – Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm and 4 pm.
From the boldness of the Dadaist pioneer Raoul Hausmann to the artists featured in the museum’s collections, this tour explores the links between art and photography.
How has photography revolutionised artistic practice? The tour explores this evolution through the works on display at the museum, from art of the past to contemporary creations.

With no doors, no walls and no roof, this museum – open to everyone – becomes, for a single day, a space for exchange and creativity. This participatory, artistic and intergenerational event invites visitors to imagine and express new visions of heritage through photography, drawing and collage.
Event – Sunday from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 pm to 6.00 pm.
