The museum reopens its doors on March 1.
The Musée d’art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne – Château de Rochechouart was delighted to welcome so many of you this year. The castle de Rochechouart is now closing for the winter, and will reopen on March 1, 2025 with a series of new exhibitions.
During opening hours, come and visit the museum alone or with your family using the mediation tools provided or opt for a guided tour.
The museum offers the unique experience of discovering spaces combining architecture, heritage and contemporary art. In situ works take place in the landscape of the castle, in a route both indoors and outdoors.
In connection with the installation of the museum in the Château de Rochechouart, three fundamental themes prevailed in the composition of this collection: history, landscape and imagination. Over the years, the museum has built up a remarkable collection which today includes more than 1,300 works by international artists.
History of the contemporary collectionRaoul Hausmann is one of the founders of the Dada movement in Berlin, which, during the First World War, completely redefined the forms that art took and what it aimed to achieve.
