On Sunday 8 November 2026 from 4.00 pm, as part of Documentary Month, organised by the Haute-Vienne Departmental Library (BDP), the Museum will host a screening of the documentary Tokyo-Aubusson, directed by Sonia Moumen, followed by a discussion with the filmmakers.
This film invites you to discover an extraordinary transformation: Hayao Miyazaki’s cult animated films brought to life in five monumental tapestries.
From the choice of images to the meticulous work of the tapestry designer, from the selection of colours to the weaving process, the documentary reveals the various stages involved in creating these works and the poetry that accompanies every gesture.
A fascinating encounter between the world of the master of Japanese animation and ancestral textile craftsmanship, the result of an exceptional collaboration between the Cité internationale de la tapisserie in Aubusson and Studio Ghibli, which began in 2017.
Following the screening, the two filmmakers, Sonia Moumen and Richard Coconnier, will be on hand to chat with the audience and answer your questions.
