Born in 1965 in Dakar (Senegal), Pélagie Gbaguidi is a Beninese artist who lives and works in Brussels (Belgium).
Her practice takes many forms, from painting and drawing to performance and installation. Pelagie Gbaguidi’s work focuses on colonial and post-colonial history. The artist likes to describe herself as a mediator between individual and collective memory
Pélagie Gbaguidi’s work has recently been included in major international exhibitions such as the Berlin Biennale in 2020, documenta 14 in Kassel in 2017, the Lubumbashi Biennale in 2019 and several editions of the Dakar Biennale (2004, 2006, 2008, 2014 and 2018).
